Selena M.
Private tutor in Tempe, AZ
Education
I'm a graduate student pursuing my Master's of Mass Communication at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus. I received my B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM (several times over named one of the most rigorous schools in the country), where I graduated with a 3.8. During my time at St. John's I was on the tenure committee for two professors, wrote a Master's length thesis that was defended in a public oral, and was an Ariel Award recipient.
Experience
I have no formal tutoring training or experience, but have a natural penchant for learning and helping others adapt to their own learning needs. Each student will comprehend and retain information differently, and I strongly believe we should embrace our individual learning styles! I was a National Merit finalist in High School because of my excellent SAT scores. I am well-equipped to not only tutor the information needed for the SAT but the critical thinking skills and test strategy that give students a leg-up as they prepare.
