Experience

I am currently a high school fine arts teacher and work with kids within my subject matter as well as finding them resources to succeed in all subjects. I often will assist students in other subjects if time permits and always welcome them in between classes if they need additional help. I have worked with students in grades K-8th for summer programs on junior college campuses and I know I am capable of assisting students as a tutor in various subjects. I want to be a tutor because I find joy in students seeing their own potential and growing right before my eyes. I know that struggling through subject matter can be a process but ultimately leads one to learn from the experience and develop their "toolbox". I have taken countless drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and photography classes throughout college. In high school, my favorite subjects were dance and American Sign Language. I was also an honors and AP English student and excelled in reading comprehension and writing on standardized tests.

Hobbies

I love anything and everything creative. I also appreciate science and its integration with art today as well as the science of how our brain works- specifically with the idea of neuroplasticity and how we can retrain our brains to be our best self. Movies are my absolute favorite way to spend my free time. I enjoy Indie films, Comedies, and once and a while something action-packed and suspenseful. I am also a dancer, artist, and photographer- as well as a teacher of all three of those subjects at a high school. When I find free time I spend a lot of it reading (non fiction and fiction), writing or reading poetry, visiting the beach, being with family and friends, and hanging out with my two cats (with amazingly different and unique personalities) named Minerva and Gene. I thoroughly enjoy Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, funny youtube videos, yoga, and listening to music. My music tastes consist of about everything... I really just enjoy GOOD music! I am particular to music you can dance or paint to. I also enjoy staying active indoors at the gym and outdoors on hikes or long bike rides. My favorite accessories consist of my elaborate scarf collection and unique items I find at local thrift shops. I have high energy and try to stay busy with things that I love.
