Experience
I recently received my PhD in microbiology, and I am proud to say that when I am not tutoring, I work in public health, researching problems concerning the water supply, especially Legionnaires' disease. I am glad that my passion for education has translated into educating the public on health issues. I hope to earn a professorship, as well as remain active in science programs that help students become more interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). However, my experience as an educator does not just revolve around mathematics and scientific disciplines; I also worked in my university's Writing Center for three years while I earned my undergraduate degree at Arizona State. Then, while earning my graduate degree, I taught university level classes as a student teacher. I know there is a big difference between passing a test, and learning basic concepts to build on in the future, and I focus on both of these while tutoring and teaching other students. I have twelve years of tutoring and teaching experience, working with individual students and with huge classes, and I have honed my teaching skills to the most effective methods. Outside of tutoring, I lead a healthy lifestyle. I like to exercise by lifting weights and running. I also like to play around with Deuce, my dog.
